So I live in an apartment in a block of about 20 or so, we have a secured shared garage with two spaces for our flat, obviously all the flats have access and occasionally there are tradies and what now that use the garage.

One of the guys in another apartment has just popped round to say that there were some tradies in the garage checking out the bike blah blah, so i'm a trusting kind of guy, i'm pretty sure there's bugger all I can do but trust no theiving fucking lifts the bike into a van? Should I be worried or are they so sort after it's just a matter of time?

Even if I did put in a ground ancher they could cut any sort of chain if they wanted to.

Anyone else worry about thier pride and joy?

Another vote for the krypto lock and cable or even 2, haven't had them tested thankfully, but they look harder to cut than a chain.

So 24hrs & $520 later I have two big assed hexagonal krypto's and a bike cover, as for the key issue, you get 3 keys with each lock and cause i have two locks i'd have to loose 6 keys to be screwed :) I tell you what i feel a whole lot better about leaving it during the day now. If they want it bad enough to get through that lot then good luck and I pity their desparation :)

Yeah, Bano is right....make sure that your adequately covered by insurance, in a previous business we paid many thousands for the latest safes etc., all you are doing is buying time for if man can devise a system of stopping man....man is then challenged to break that system...in other words, if they want it badly enough,,brother they will take it....I agree with Roka Rida, get a Yamaha cover and insure your bling too..............

After reading through this thread I'm curious to know if anyone here has ever personally had their bike stolen or interfered with?

Good question Keilor. Im crazy about locking my bike up - ive also got the kryptonite chain and lock, disc lock, steering lock and bike cover. I asked a mate of mine who is a copper about how often Harley get knocked off and he reckons its really rare??? I also read some insurance report once that stated that Harleys are low risk for theft and that the rice burners are the bikes that constantly get knocked off.
So is it true? Do people know of Harleys getting regulary pinched or is it a myth??

Don't want to unsettle you about your krypto chains but check the video here in relation to krypto's toughest product. Wall of shame. http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/index.asp?pg=7 Before I went out and bought a chain and anchor, I did a bit of online research and wound up buying from these guys. Pricey, but if it deters one potential thief then it's paid for itself. I paid >$36k for the bike, why not a few hundred on a decent chain. I fully understand however, that if an organised thief wants your bike, they'll most likely get it. Angle grinders are portable nowdays.

Edit: Posted from my iphone from work this morning, didn't realise the video isn't on that link i gave you. It is here though.

Two Hareys stolen locally that I know of. The first was quite a few years ago, they drove into his farm with a horse float put the bike in it and drove out. Who would question a horse float comin out of a farm gate?

The scond one was this xmas, a guy left his bike unlocked while he walked onto the beach to have a look. Someone jumped on the bike and gone? Apparently the bike was brand new.

I had to "steal" my bike back from my ex-bitch. It had locked steering and ignition. Put the front wheel on a skateboard and winched it onto a tow truck. Took 3 months but I eventually got the keys then sold the bike to pay for the sharks sorry I meant to say solicitor. By the way how come a chick can get busted for soliciting and then needs to go to a solicitor for the "legal" advice to fight it??

Don't give the fuckers an even break.

I have to Kryptos plus 12mm chain that a mate got me from the mines and my best mate (below) has access to the area. The mate's dad is a police dog and his mother is one mean bitch = one mean mate. Plus I ensured the bike for what it's worth to me not they tell me.

Shit Hooky that is an interesting video. You just cant stop the bastards!!! Did you buy one of their chains? Any good? At the end of the day like others have said they can just bring a portable angle grinder and cut anything. I like the guard dog idea. No doubt that they are the best security. I got a staffy who would lick them to death while they cut through me chains.
