This people, and I use word "people" very loosely, are the descendants of the Lebanese parents who arrived here on temporary visa to escape atrocities that were happening in Lebanon in late 70-ties and early 80-ties.

The government (Australian) at the time, under Bob Hawke, granted them residential visas to allow them to stay here in a pacefull country and not to be forced to return to Lebanon. In a way they, same as the boat people, bypassed the proper immigration and basicaly jumped the queue.

Unfortunatel those "people" did not adopt Australian way and still reminiscent about the old country. Their children are caught in between two cultures and with muslim culture where the father/ male head of the family is like a god figure, they have no chances.

When I responded to the previous thread (the one that got removed) this is what I was talking about - arseholes jumping the queue, being welcomed here in this beautifull and free country of ours, not adopting the Australian way, burning the flag and generaly hating us because we are not like them - and I was branded a racist. LMAO

The problem with the latter generation is that they are not disciplined simply because it is illegal to smack your children. I'm talking about a smack here not a bashing. I was brought up with the odd smack and have no regrets at the way I turned out. I have respect for my elders, my country, flag and people in general provided that their respect is earned. These youth of today expect to be respected without having a fucking clue about how to go about earning it....like everyhting else they want it now...
