    Three motorcycle riders killed

    AAP

    May 08, 2009 06:40am

THREE motorcycle riders died yesterday in separate accidents in Queensland.

A 44-year-old Tannum Sands man died after his motorcycle collided with a truck on the Bruce Highway six kilometres north of Gin Gin.

The large cruiser-style motorcycle collided with the truck, which was turning into private property from the highway.

Despite the efforts of off-duty paramedics the man died at the scene.

Police said speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

A 47-year-old man from Halifax in north Queensland died when his 250cc motorcycle crashed in Ingham just after 5pm.

The rider and a car collided and he was thrown from the bike into oncoming traffic.

Ambulance officers treated the man at the scene before rushing him to hospital, where he later died.

A 37-year-old Gympie man died on his way to hospital after his motorcycle and a utility collided just outside Gympie in southeast Queensland just before 6.15pm (AEST) yesterday.

I hate the term 'accidents'. I still call them crashes - it takes some kind of failure, either human or mechanical.

So sad to see people checking out via their bikes. Ride safe - remember/believe that the best ride you will ever have is always 'the next one'.
