Hiya all. It's been yonks since i've been on the forum, this or anywhere (Just got a 'putor at home again). Anyways, i'm wanting to upgrade my stock bars on the '07 FXDC. For me Apes are the go, 'bout 16" i reckon. Now, i've seen complete sets pre-wired, chrome switch blocks, braided cables etc to suit for the US$570.00 mark to suit my ride. I 'spose i'm looking to hear from people with a bit more experience than i have on this topic. Pro's and cons of purchasing a "Bolt on" or; purchasing separate components. Faark, the more i read and yak to people the harder the decision seems. Any help greatly appreciated. CP

I put on 12" bars on my Duece on top of the 6" raisers and i love it. Sometimes i wish that i went a bit higher to get that better look but it may be a bit uncomfortable..?? I did it the easy way due to the fact that i didn't have much time off work and got the shop to put them on for me. All braided cables and it cost $890.00 fitted. They are just el cheapo bars as i didn't want to spend alot on bars if i did't like the outcome.

Thanks for the input fellas. A little bit of everything said rings true for me, i'm handy with a soldering iron and can read schematics ok. It's putting a cupla days together in a row that has me fecked. Can i delay the gratification long enough to wire all myself. Or, just go the easy way and get the pre-wired??!! Hmm, a little time will tell.... Decision time.

the only bad thing with solid mount riser's is you can't adjust them. you would want to try them out and make sure you are comfortable with the solids before handing over ya hard earned.
