Mate rang up this arvo, just got back from Adelaide with his new bike, a Triumph America. We went over to have a quick look and a celebratory red wine. I must say that I'm very impressed with his choice. He is getting back into bikes after many years, like a lot of us I guess. He has the new jacket and helmet and has a smile on his dial as big as you can imagine. It's bog standard so far apart from a screen and a back rest and rack. His new wife hasn't been on the back of a bike before but she is supporting him 100%. She also has a new jacket and helmet as well. Once he is familiar with the bike and she is comfortable on the back I can see a few weekenders away on the bikes.

My wife said on the way home, "it's quiet isn't it"  "He will want to get some aftermarket pipes after he hears other Triumphs"

Anyway it's great to see a bloke getting back into bikes after a lot of years with the complete support of his lady.

Did he consider a Sporty I hear you ask. No but I'm glad as he is a pretty tall bloke and it wouldn't have suited him at all, especially 2 up touring. IMHO.

When I got back into bikes after getting married, buying a house, having two kids....You know what I mean! My wife was a bit scared, but i convinced her I was still a sensible rider, and everything would be fine. It went from, NO NO, to, you look too big on that Sportster. Get a bigger bike! WTF!!! Great decision, as she enjoys riding with me and my mate with his wife. All good fun, and a great stress release. BTW, we avoid the dickhead car drivers on main roads, and usually head up a quiet country road. Love it!!!!

It's funny how it works, isn't it.

I had a '81 Pantah for about 12 years....no car and rode from the outer east of melbourne into richmond every day.

Then wife and kids and no bike.......now, 10 years later.......no wife, new bike and a shit eatin' grin that won't go away.

I married my wife and she bought me a Harley.

I was looking at the dealers for a while and she decided to get in and buy it before me, so she could get the browny points. Cunning!

Triumphs are a fabulous bike, had 3 Tigers, but theres nothing like "The real thing", the sound of my Harley starting thrills me even after 30000k's.........

I checked out my mates new Trumpy America, and I found it a bit top heavy! Not long after, my mate dropped it in a low speed lane change/braking manouvre... That's why I didn't buy a Triumph!
