I have a 08 xl883c, last couple of starts i hit the run, the engine light comes on and fuel pump starts, engine light go's out, i start her up but the engine light comes on for 10 seconds while the bike is running, i suspect this may be bad for engine? Im woundering if its a fuel issue, maybe being low on fuel, i also found when at 100km/h the bike is running okay coming back down gears and speed its keeping a high idle, have to be at a dead stop before the idle comes back down to normal. Has anyone run into the same problems ? are these problems related ?

idle problem could be computer or throttle cable return(ihad a problem after hwy cruising and played around with throttle cables and throttle housing -removed and refitted and lubed with inox-allgood!)-on a 07 sporty..

i had the same problem with my bike, my problem with engine light coming on was something to do with the blinkers n logging a code(because of crap in fuse box), the high idle was from crap in the fuse box water had corroded the fuses n the main systems relay i pulled all fuses out cleaned it with an electrical cleaner then filled the fuse box up with dielectric grease to stop it from happening again. i did this about 12 months ago n have had no worrys since.i took the bike to a dealer to have problem fixed n was told it was the cold idle kicking in after the bike had been running for about 2 hours n the cold temperture outside(winter riding) the whole time he was telling me this i was thinking u wanker any way hope this helps there has been other members have the same problem but it can cause different things my bike is all so an 08 883c
