Fat Bob riders happy?

I'm looking at swapping the 1200 Custom on a Fat Bob. Rode one yesterday and was impressed, tho' without pipes it did feel very 'Japanese'.. I note some debate about Dynas vibrating.. they felt very soft, soothing vibes to me, and the Sporty is rubber mounted too..

But here's the question.. Are Fat Bob owners happy with the bike? My concern is that huge fat front wheel.. it flip flops nicely but 95% of my riding is country.. how are they on bumpy sweepers? And more importantly (the better half is sweet on a Road King, understandably) how are they two up? Are the shocks adjustable, and, with us both around 70 - 75 Kg only, would you recommend one for part time 'touring' ie 2 - 400 k's a day? I'd fit a sundowner seat and bags, probably.. I should have checked I know.. but are the forward controls adjustable? Bit of a stretch for us with Duck's Disease..

Loved the feel of the bike, and I really want to stick to a 'sporting' feel; Roadkings just seem a little 'Grandad' to me.. even tho' I AM one.. help me here, guys!

mate i will give you the advice that everybody gave me except one dickhead sit on them all and the one that loves you will come to you or something like that.i bought my fat bob yesterday it was love at first sight the tyres are perfect for the country narrow tyres are not good on rough roads more suited to smooth freeways and they cusion in potholes better as well.
some more good advice i got on this site (lovely guys these harley boys)just buy the fucking thing and enjoy it.
the only thing i miss was blasting past a pack of harley riders on a rocket and now iam one of em but i will still ride with the triumph guys. good luck.

No the forward controlls are not adjustable and I do need to sit slightly forward on the seat .So to answer your questions am I happy farkinoth

Thanks Swinks and TC, I appreciate that.
I agree, Swinks, Just buy it and enjoy.. I'm just a couple of bouquets and bottles of French bubbly short at this time...
TC what's a 'Big Joe's Fuelshot'? I was thinking obviously of the Stage one kit.. any thoughts on pipes? Ignition upgrades? I'm ok with my S E slip ons, but some favour Vance and Hines. What've you guys done? And I think there'll have to be an engine chrome kit. I like the black on this bike, but love chrome too much!
Would love to do that Gt Ocean Rd, TC, on the FB one day.. the 380 hire car didn't do it justice!

Jufster, Had my Fatbob now for 8 months, about 9000km and couldn't be happier. Shocks adjustable by hand apparently, but the $20 tool is much easier. You can order it with mid mount controls too. Check out Big Joe Choppers http://www.bigjoechoppers.com.au/contactus.html for info on the fuelshot, genuine guys that have got all the time in the world to help. I imported some Rush slip ons from the USA (when Exchange rates were $0.92 for about $350. Sound much better than the SE slip ons. Two up is better with the backrest, I got the removeable type (as it looks shit riding solo with it on)

Thanks heaps again guys, I'll take a note of all that and man, I'm gettin' itchy feat now..

Have to say that on the short 'test' it felt very plush.. doubt that I'll be disappointed. Know anyone in the market for a sharp '06 Custom??

    Cheers!

What do you fat bob owners think of the 16 inch wheels?

Personally I think it would look a lot sharper with 17's like a fat boy. A little less monkey bike perhaps.

    cheers

Hey Jufster.Mate ,your just about to part with 28 grand so choose carefully. IMO unless you hate your oldlady , dont buy one for two up touring. not enough rear suspension travel 2.5". Do they handle , yep . Good enough to scrape the primary cover and fuck footpegs . Is it comfortable ? not too bad, seat is only just . Brakes are good. cheers

Had my FXDF a coupla months all country riding, found it better with rear end set on '2' [me 100kg]no wuckin furries
plenty of grunt and have covered 700km in 7 hours and could still walk
loaded with v & h big radius single, sert and s e air kit ,will probablly look for a more conventional tread design when the time comes

Thanks Brett and Pisspour, appreciate the opinion. Yeah, it's a big step, and my only reservation is the 2 up scenario. Then again, I like Road Kings but since 90% is gonna be solo, I'd rather the Fatbob. Or am I just bein' selfish?? D'yr reckon Fornales shocks would improve it?
And pisspour what tyre would you go for. I know Metzlers made a huge difference to the Sporty, what's available for the Fatbob?
    Cheers guys!

I got 14,000 km from the original Dunlop then put on a Metzler and it only got 8,000km and felt shithouse, put a Dunlop back on it and it feels and handles a lot better.

Just my experience with my Fatbob and tyres, by the way i have done over 26,000 km on it in just under 12 months.

Tyres.........I look like getting 14-15000 from factory fit, local aftermarket H D shop reckon Bridgestone is what they fit and getting good reports.  I reckon ive got  till spring time to sought it out

Was that Just a rear, PB, or both? Surprised the Metzler only got 8K, pretty poor eh? Have to say they work better on the Sporty, will be interested to see how they last. You get around..
