    2007 night train

drained the gear box oil today the old oil was white as if water had entered the box but I dont think it has

has anyone got thoughts? could it be an additive or is the factory oil that colour??

Ryco oil filter part no   Z418                     recieved some specs from USA re relief valve and micron requirement of element the size mentioned is 5 micron which I think is wrong because engin oil would not pass through (fuel is around 5-10 micron) ryco is using 30 micron on all filters and has the internals(anti drain back and 8-11 psi relief valve) that comes with the original. K&N site has been down so I was unable to get their specs. I am in no way recommending the the ryco but I am using them and will keep this forum informed

If gearbox oil is white as has been said, that is moisture, but can also get in riding long distance in heavy rain, or washing bike too often.

with condensation depends were you live and were you store the bike, or how you store the bike. i've never experienced condensation myself but, friends in different parts of australia do.

i like to use Redline Heavy Shockproof gear oil in the box. expencive but worth it.

I use Redline Shockproof also in my tranny, and compared to whatever was in there before, it's like night and day. The smooth gear changes, especially into first, made it worth the fourty odd bucks I paid. I will leave it in at least 20,000ks, no problem!!
