A mate has an 07 softail custom and has both of the brake fluid cylinders with corrosion around the top. They have never been removed. Warranty ran out a few months ago. Stealer took photos to look into replaceing under warranty, will see what happens.

Dot 4 fluid being used in HD, when did they stop using Dot 5 ??

 

Anyone else got the same problem ???

yup ive had 2 replaced (warrenty) and now the rear is doing it as well...........mine is an 08 FLHRC and it just keeps happening..........sux rea;;y........

Just been out to the shed, same bike as Hoodaman, and mine look like new still. Does say DOT4 on the lids.

My front master cylinder started leaking a month after I got the bike and stuffed all the paint around the lid. Steeler reckons they overfill the cylinder at the factory and when it heats up the oil expands and the leaks happen. They replaced the lid. Well guess what? Its leaking yet again and eating the paint away once more. Wonder what the next excuse will be? Mine a 08 Fatty

i was cleaning the bike yesterday , [ 07 heritage ] and noticed weeping around the master cylinder , no paint loss yet !!!  thanks for the tip , i'll get on it asap. 

A bit bubbly means you will get more until the paint flakes off.
There should be no bubbles of paint at all.
Look into warranty and get new seals and cap.

my fat bob is doing it, the dealer said they have ordered a new one.
