    Giday,

I've got an  08 fxst ,took delivery late Oct.  I stumbled on to the Nightrider site and was immediately interested as my bike was HOT .I ordered and fitted the 02 Sensor Inline Enrichment Device before the first service.I has cooled down the motor considerably . I have fitted the Vance and Hines Exhaust Butterfly Valve resistor and Sreamin' Eagle Slipons.

My bike has now got a wider torque band , runs cooler (you can now touch the oil tank and still have finger prints)and is more rideable ,particularly in traffic.my fuel consumption is @ 17K's to the Litre  . I recommend The Nigthrider 02IED  to any one with an 07-08 Harley big twin.

Good to hear you have had good results too gmeilke. I am very happy with the way my bike behaves since installing the nightrider 02 IED's . It is a vast improvement on the factory delivered bike ( the factory delivered bike by the way came with the accessories that i'd prepaid for , supplied in their packaging with no apology or refund ,just a stern warning that if I fitted them myself they would not be covered by the H D guarantee. I was  credited my fitting charge to cover my first free service)

I have since lowered my softail 35mm . Now my left leg doesn't have to sit hard against the primary case when stationary. My bike is now much more pleasant to ride. I may not be "WAY COOL " but I am cooler.

    Hi all,

I  installed my IED same time as Gregg and can confirm the bike is running noticeably cooler, better mid-range throttle response and smoother ride when crawling around town in lower gears. Not sure if it's my ears but the bike even sounds a little different - deeper, richer, happier maybe ?

Did a consumption test last w/end: 300 k's cruising at an average 100kph returned 4.5 litres / 100k's (UK63mpg) which is exactly the same as my pre-IED figures. This is as expected as the IED has no effect when bike is in open-loop mode i.e cruising or throttle at 50%+.

Will post an update when I get some urban figures but if they're anything like Greggs I'll be very happy as the slight increase in fuel consumption when flexing the wrist is more than compensated for by the heat loss and performance gains. Well worth the spend for me - the bike (and the rider) much happier so far.

Greg the info you gave was great, Last week i bought and fitted a set ofI IED,s I did not get to ride until this week rode 80k to work and back, my streetbob appears to go a lot better much smoother and has reduced popping on decel and what popping i do get is not as harsh overall a big improvement in performence. I have only got V/HINES slipons with quiet baffles fitted and exhaust valve open, other than a filter in standard airbox I wil not do much more thanks for the headsup on these IED,s also they cost me $69.95 delivered

    Gmeikle, great info mate.

I have installed an oil cooler yesterday and I can tell the difference already. Like you said in your info, the bike was very, very hot even on a mild day. Now it is cool, it doesn't burn my thigh while stuck in traffic.

    Cheers mate

Here is another thread from the USA HD forums. It's 11 pages long, with some bullshit side issues, but basically it's about these Nightrider O2 IED wires. Consensus of opinion is all good. Some dudes have ditched their fuel management units in favour of these IED wires.

    Gidday gmeikle

I have been following that thread as well and the IED's do look like the go for those of us who want to stay around stock for our bikes

I'm picking up an FXDC on wednesday and have ordered the Nightrider IED's,  They will be the first thing to go on the bike along with opening up the exhaust valve

One thing I wanted to ask about is the valve in the aircleaner, Is that hard to locate or is it fairly obvious once you have got the lid off?

Also, It is going to be bloody hot all week in Adelaide and 36 when I pick the bike up, You reckon this will be ok to ride home through the traffic stock or should I have the bike delivered and save the engine some overheating grief until I install the IED's, We are in the high 30's for the next week

    Cheers

gmeikle ... I've just installed a set of O2 Sensor IED's on my 08 FXSTC (best AU$80 I've ever spent). Curious as to your installation on the front sensor. I tried to get the IED cable in behind the regulator without bending the wire but ended up using tie wraps to neatly install on the frame. A pic of your installation would be great. Had no problem with the rear and was able to do without removing the seat or battery.

    giday mate.

I've got an 08 softie standard ,you just unscrew the regulator and fit the wires behind it. that stupid plastic thing on top is a problem. although mine isn't any more , it isn't anything anymore. They are just low voltage wires they can be bent just take a little care.

Thanks Ductor ... worked a trick and you'd never know they were there. Gotta spend less time with a keyboard in my hand and more time with an allen key in my hand on the bike.

    Cheers mate

G'day gmeikle,  yep I'm in WA.  Ductor replied to say the front IED fits easily behind the regulator which I've now done.  Would never know the IED's are on the bike unless you looked real hard now.  I've thought about fitting the HD oil cooler but most of my riding is cruising and very little stop-start around the city so may just try the "cool collar" first.

The bike pulls like a train great in midrange now as you said.  I reckon after the K&N is in I'm about done with mods except for more chrome over time.  I can't stop adding chrome as "She gets gold ... so I get chrome" .

With my Rush slip-ons (which are just the best sound and getting better with more km's), IED's, exhaust valve sorted and a K&N to go ...  I'm wrapped with the performance.  I'm pushing 50 so happy to enjoy my weekend cruise on a bike with the boys that runs smoother, cool(er) and has plenty of poke when I want to open her up. Can't see the point of a SERT now which is what a lot of the guys on the US hdforum have also commented having done the same mods as you and I have.

Then I get to do this all over again when my Rocker C comes in around Xmas

    Thanks for the reply mate.

    Giday again,

                           I've fitted a cool collar at 28 deg C day my oil is 215 deg F ( 101 deg C) .I never had the temp dip stick before the I E D's but it's a lot cooler.

I don't know if you'll have any trouble with the Rocker they seem to have a finned aluminium oil tank .  Probably what the softails should have.

    Giday Gmielke,

I still have the standard IED's but have changed to V&H Short Shots.

Does the XIED's stop the pop on decelleration. My exhaust popping isn't excessive but it would be better if it wasn't there.

I've been thinking about a power commander , I understsnd the I E D's work with the power commander , but the only info I can

muster is from the shops that sells them. I've read that the V&H fuelpak doesn't eliminate the pop.

I look forward to your views ,or any one else's.

                                                                                                                                                               Thanks

                                                                                                                                                                                   Ductor

    Gents,

just scanning through some of the posts and noticed this is the 3rd post re decel pop with just the use of Xieds.

The fact the Decel pop is there should indicate that something is not quite right. If it is a slight gurgle, then that is not decel pop. If there is a pop, then this is more than likely caused by a lean condition on Decel (assuming you have eliminated all exhaust leaks). You do not need to spend the $1K for the sert. As mentioned in other posts by users not associated with our FuelShot Gen iii, the FuelShot will eliminate the decel pop, along with giving performance improvements.

Do a search and ask the people who are using them. I am sure you will have some very positive feedback.

    Cheers

    Mick
