2008 SLUGGISH, LOST POWER

I have just clocked 1400k's and are soon to take it for its first service but recently i have noticed that the bike has lost power and his not as crisp on the throttle. Also the sound from the mufflers is different. Before you could just twist the throttle and the torque would just keep pulling you but now you have to rev it hard to get close to its original power.

It kind of feels like a carbi when its gone out of tune or the timing is out? its efi so bizarre.

Can some please she some light on this or maybe experinced something similar. the bike is basically brand new?

could it be the slip on mufflers coming loose to cause a power loss?

The only thing i have done is add a sissy bar - so cant be the weight

The slip ons and exhaust "head" flanges were all tight - still just lacks that pull it used to have, but one thing i did notice is that 5,500 rpm there is a vibration from the rear - could just be the engine screaming, dont know?

Took it back to P.S. the guy who test road it said it was running lean - due to the S&S slip ons. He said once you replace the standard filter with an aftermarket air filter and get a race tuner. The bike will launch -, but why was it running better before and and not now?

Maybe the bike has started to wear in and now the computer has changed? therefore needing more fuel and more airflow?

Which would be better = spending the money and getting a dynomax commander fitted and tuned or big joes fuel shot and doing it myself?

which would enable more power or bang for buck?

    Sounds like crap to me.

S&S slipons on there own are fine, and the scoot should be running better.

I put my S&S slipons within weeks of buying my custom sporty and the stealers insisted I did not need to worry unless I change the air filter.

You may have changed how the pulse works in the harmonics of the exhaust (reversion).

I have just put mine on the dyno and had a run with a restrictor fitted and one without.

With the restrictor in the air fuel ratio was much better overall but lost some top end.

With it out the air fuel was allover the place worse in the lower rpm but picked up the top.

I have now put in a different restrictor just after the merge collector, feels better but yet to prove on dyno.

This could be your problem but also mat not be. I am running a 2:1 Kerker so mine is more sensetive to the changes.

Sounds like you are running lean as well, needs to be tweaked to richen up.

Yes, slipons were bought with the bike! - took it back to the dealer, they put it on the computer and it did not show any issues - nor did it throw any "dia" codes?

however the guy who test road it said the motor has just settled in and freed it up - it now is reving freely and harder but is now unfortunately requiring more fuel then before- therefore running lean!!

-looks like i need to venture down the fuelshot path?

What fuel are you using in the bike? I just had my first service a couple of weeks ago and before that I never noticed it being as you described.

Try using shell 98 octain works well.

I alternate between, BP Ultimate and shell 98 - depends on what mood i am in. - In relation to your question, depends on your setup - are you running a 1200? s&s slip ons?

Every bike is different and ridden differently - mine as i found was just hungry for fuel! it threw p0131 and p0151 codes  - meaning lean.

the only change i had when i bought it brand new was fit s&s slip ons, it was okay for 1100 or so kms and it then said, " feed me more juice!" so i did  with a fuel computer and added a heavy breather and i have not looked back.
