Just had my bike finished at Richardsons Harley.
Was running well before, but I thought I might see what Harley and Screamin Eagle can do. I knew it would cost a packet, but got the following done on my 103:
HI - comp SE forged pistons. Auto decompression on start-up CNC ported SE heads. ( got the biggest , baddest they make) tapered adjustable pushrodsd 50 ml throttle bodies. SE heavy breather air intake SE 267 cams I'm currently running V & H big radius, but am looking at getting a better performance pipe over. To Richos and HD's credit, it all runs well, busts over the 100 hp and torque easy, and is quicker than V-rods. Has no warranty probs etc. All in all, an expensive excercise and bike runs well. As usual, Richardsons were very good and provided excellent service. Next practical joke on myself I think will be a 130 hp plus engine. Where to start? Ya can't put an S&S on any frame later than 2006. I hear Merch performance in states is virtually uncontactable. Any ideas on engine builders in VIc? I'm from Tassie, but would like to suss out who is building hard out , reliable street engines. Thanks for listening. Gozz.
Well...yeah, that's why I said it was expensive.
Warranty has never been a problem with these guys before, so would you know?
130 HP plus torque for half the price?
Really? Sounds great, everywhere I go they all cost heaps.
Do tell, I'm all ears.
Head work everwhere seem to be $2000 plus.
Wanting to build a new bike soon, so performace AND reliability is what I'm after.
Love to hear what you would do to build the type of engine I'm after, without turbo.
Gozz.
Went to Richardsons while on holidays in Tassie, must admit it's the best feeling Harley dealership I have been in (not that Ive been in many), the museum is cool, one of the salesman had a nice SE softy with Yaffe Crack pipes, but compared to Trivetts in Sydney, Richardsons looks like its run by a bike gang. (no offence intended)
Thanks GSH , thanks Joey.
Joey, you HAVE to come over for the big bandanna run later. Really good day.
Also, the national GS rally is in Tassie this year and it would be a buzz to have you over if poss. on your bike.
Will keep in touch and let you know dates. Reino usually knows.
Up date on Gozz bike v's Night Rod -
Cheeky Wik has gone and had it geared down and removed airbox cover.
He now moves ahead, so it's a close thing.
Anyhow, onto the next project if money permits.
Cya.
