Shovel elec ignition

In the interest of reliability and a little more preformance I'm looking to convert to Elec ignition. (74ci shovel, kick only)

I'm just after some recomendations as to whats the best to use and what sort of $ i'd have to spend.

After researching quite a bit i'm more confused than ever!

I'm being told Crane Hi4 is the only set up suitable for kick only, is this correct? Then i've been told crane has shut its doors. If i can source a setup N.O.S. what are they like? I've heard there are a lot of quality issues with Crane stuff. What other options are out there for kick only?

Single or dual fire? Apart from a little extra cost is there any disadvantage in single fire setups?

Some setups appear to still run mechanical advance (Original weights and springs I'm asuming?) Is this a weak point?

    Help.

    Kiwidave, thanks for your input.

I have rung around a number of places in Melboure re; Elec ignitions, the only one that had a Crane Hi4 setup wanted over $700.00 and carried on like it was the last gold ticket to Willy Wonkas chocolate factory! Buying a brand that has gone belly up and has 2/5 of S.F.A. warranty worries me a little. A few retailers have recommended the Dyna setups but really pushed the 2000i setup "Cause you can plug in a laptop and customise your advance curve" W.T.F? the lesser dyna setup, the "S" appears to still run the orig advance weights / springs etc, which i though are a bit of a weak point anyway? The 2000i setup is around $800.00 and seems like a little overkill, Can you recommened any suppliers here or in the 'States where i could keep hunting? Searching Flea-bay hasn't turned up much.

Anyone running a dyna setup on an earlier bike?

    Hi Doug,
The Dyna 2000i set up is for electric start only. The system kicks in after 2 revolutions and unless you are Superman it wont do it on kickstart. Found these links, have a look. One's a new one and one's used (price is cheap, but it's your gamble.) I used to run the Dyna S set up on my Shovel, it ran the OEM advance mechanism. Worked fine for me.

Hey Scotty, thanks for the suggestion. I should've put up a follow up reply sooner. I ended up running a twin tec and in the short time since was bloody happy with it. I ordered it direct from twin tec and they set it from factory for kick only free of charge. From memory the whole conversion incl V.O.E.S. coil, unit, leads etc etc was just shy of $500.00 aussie delivered. They offered free postage, don't know if they realised that was close to $50 us when they made the offer! it was nice to just bolt it up and ride away, i'm not one to root around with laptops etc.
