The New Bobber Poject is well on it's way., The Tank arived during the week and today I thought I would start making a Set of Custom Pipes. Theres not much in Exhausts available for an Old Iron Head.
Iv'e made Headers for Cars before so making some thing up for this should be a walk in the park, The plan is 1-3/4 steping up to 2-1/4, I will post Photos up as I go. Today all I did was make up a Mounting Bracket and cut the Outlets.
I got to do a fair bit of fabrication on this one.........
Im just a bit pised off, Day Light Saving is just about to Finsh , theres not much motivation when you get home in the dark. So you may have to wait till the weekend for more updates.
the tank looks great on walker
I had the heads, barrels, valves and piston crowns on my 77 IH HPC'd .. . good stuff!!. Yeh i'm having a set made for mine too, i want something a little different to the run of the mill drag pipes available for them, plus i need to snake them around my forward controls. And the new rear swingarm i have sits wider than a stocker. How will you go with getting a roadworthy certificate with the thunder they will create??
The transport boys up here are on the case now. .mobile electronic sniffers and sound Db level readers . . just looking for a lone rider with an older bike to put off the road
I saw twisted choppers offer them with a baffle too . . .i've also seen someone put a baffle and the throttle butterfly and shaft out of an s&s carb in the tube with a lever out of sight around the back . . . put through a "choke" cable . . . ..cable in . .nice n quite . . .cable open . . . .perferated ear drums!!!
Today was work on the Pipes, I should have them finshed tommorow ,,, and dont go baging my Welding , Im a bit out of practice
Finshed,,,,,,, But I may have to shorten them up a little, I have to wait until I get the Engine into the new Frame. Having a Kicker and a Starter Motor to deal with made it a little tricky, But Im happy with them.
I was going to get them Coated now I thinking just Wraping them, maybe with a Chrome Heat Sheild. Hmmm
After looking at the photos that Russ posted of the Pipes that Twisted Choppers make, I wasn't happy with the way that mine came out,
So today I trimed them back a little,
I think they are much better. I also made a better Lower Mount.
The Big Brown Truck turned up today,,,,,, Yippy Im one more step closer
You are right Dave the Pipes are all wrong Wraped,
I will send them of during the week to get Coated,
I dont know weather to go Black or Chrome ,
Heres the make up of the Bike
The PrImary and Side Covers are going to be Black, the Case's Sliver, the Barrels Black and the Rocker Boxes Chrome, All the Adjustment Covers and Bolts will be Chrome,
The Air Cleaner is Chrome. The Bike is going to be Black with a Yellow Stripe, The Wheels are Black with Chrome Twisted Spokes, The rear Tyre is a Antque White Wall and the Front is a Antque 21" on a Skinny Rim.The Springer is Chrome and the Bars are Black .
So help me deside What will I do the Pipes in Black or Chrome.
Well today
I removed the Wrap and Linshed the Welds and give them a coat of Black Paint.
Just to see how they would look Black. I still have to finsh the Heat Sheild.
Next weekend Im going to work on the Forward Contols
Walka, here are the 99 fatbob pipes i'm adapting to my 77 IH. (sorry for the fuzzy camera phone pic) . .working on the muffler mounts at the moment then i'll get the pipes sorted, took 4" out of the cat convertor and tore the remaining out, but look to be a real easy fit. . . picked up the complete setup for $76 on ebay
Here are my forwards. .DNA Elite's with a few mods
You tell me ? A pile of Junk , is the first thing that comes in to my head.
I hope the Bike comes out some thing like this
