I agree with you about the Std Seat but the pillion setup is VERY comfortable and the whole lot is removable in about 6 minutes or just unclip the rear pad/backrest in about 6 seconds leaving the chrome luggage rack which looks quite good.

The Arlen Ness Lowering Kit #17-100 drops the ass a bit more to reduce the dreaded "gap" until it look heaps better.

I have lots of pics showing the variations. Drop me a line on

I got the shits with the comfort factor and pulled the pocket from under the seat and filled with foam. Awsome but could still be better.

Can't fit the rear seat under the front seat now so I beefed it up a little and the result is good allround.

You did a nice job beefing up that pillion seat base!!! I didn’t ride the original seat for long so can’t really comment but most feel that the seat was too hard and usually rode with the rear seat squab removed.

The FXCW seat is as good as any regular seat on any Harley……… not including those massive soft looking touring seats which look really naff!

The lowering kit is just a couple of different length  threaded bolts…… nothing substantial. My mechanic did all the fiddly stuff. You can lower it probably close to 2” but it would only be for solo and BLOODY hard. Mine is dropped about 3’4” or so and is quite clearly FIRM especially 2-up but only bottoms out rarely on very serious potholes. Along with the FXCW seat it looks heaps lower and I am very happy with it. Sure a set of air shockies at $2500 would be better but…………….

I usually ride without the trick seat.

It is a magic trick seat cause when I get home from work it seems to install itself and one of the kids are there with jeans and boots on, asking if I am going out and can they come with me.

What brand is it? Looks a bit like the FXCW seat with good forward positioning but sticks up a bit at the back!!

The clean rear fender looks great! Do you have a rear reflector in the indicator/rear/brake LED's ? What is on the stock USA delivered Rockers? I can't remember. I think they still require a reflector actually on the fender don't they? Are the vertical plate holders legal here? Just wondered. That front indicator is amazing!

The seat is from the FXCW (not the FXCWC).

Part Number 51480-08 Rocker Standard Seat and Part Number 51886-08 Bracket for Solo seat.

The total landed cost would be about Aus$240 (from ChicagoHD) Very easy to remove the "C" seat and fit this one. Sits about 1" lower and also reduces the infamous "GAP" a fair bit. It's also much more comfortable than the Danny Gray seat although the DG looks great!

I'm sure that one day there will be a perfect answer to the seat problem but I'm not convinced that any so far are ideal for me. This one is excellent at the price and I am happy although always open to new additions to the possibilities.

After more than 20,000 k's on a stock FXCW/C seat,I think I'm sticking to the stocka. Ride all day and arse is a bit "tingly" but thats usual for long hrs in the saddle. Don't care bout the looks, comfort. And I've got a suss back with no probs. Except the zillion cane train crossings up here in Nth Qld, shockie adjustments to cope with them fuckers!!    I'm actually happy with everything on a stock FXCWC, I'd only change stuff purely for aesthetic reasons. The bars are comfy, the speedo, which everyone puts shit on, is at an angle where I get less reflection than my 84 FXST stocka, no real bitches really. Handles good, (250 rear tyre) fuel economy good, over 20k's a litre, is that std? Good?, bad? fucknose.  The more people that hate the rocka, the more unique they'll become. It just takes yrs to be acceptable in my eyes.

Well said philthy. I have the FXCW seat on mine (so I could fit the full HD backrest system) and it's the most comfortable seat I've ever had. I have never once had "itchy bum" which is expected on longer rides. Like you,  I get 20km litre (56 mpg) which easily gets me over 300km a tank.

Just put a bit on the other thread about the "Puck" for getting the rest of the dirty oil out of the motor. It won't work with a Rocker except maybe cutting the crimped/braided  return oil line and replacing with  clamps? The others will have to be modified to I suppose, (to match). Any thoughts on that? I'll mess about in me shed and see what I can come up with.
