i got my 08 FLHRC last week and am in the process of getting it setup the way i want..  I find i lean forward a little and was thinking some bars that let me sit a bit more upright might help my back on long rides.  i was thinking  of getting 10" mini-apes.  Does anyone have any experience in this area or have any other suggestions?  Another thing is .. what is the best thing to clean the white-walls with ?

    cheers

    OB

I had the same problem with my 08RKC. I put the HD 1 1/4" Beefy Bars on that are in the catalogue. Its right for me now. Maybe about the same rise but for sure more pull back that stops me from leaning forward. I am on my 3rd rear and 2nd front tyre and got rid of the white walls. Thinking of putting them back on though. Keeping them clean with some ajax on the whites worked ok.

I've got mini apes on my street bob , do find they tend to turn me into a parachute over 100 klm , but on your bike who knows suppose with a windscreen you would'nt have that problem

    Hi Outbak.

I've got the HD reduced reach bars which move the hands back about 70mm without any change in height. I'm short, and this mod moved my bum into the back of the seat instead of leaning forward a bit.

I use Jif on the whitewalls. They'll get covered in black dust from the brake pads if you're using the standard pads. Try the Lyndall ones - Scotty swears by them.

Just fitted the reduced reach bars to my RK, which I think is what was recommended to you outbak.

Posture is alot better now, no need to arch my back. Now I sit with my back straight. Harley should of fitted these bars as standard.

Very easy to install, only had to extend the wiring for the controls by about 120mm. Nothing like a bit of solder and heat shrink.

And the Stealer wanted to charge me $500 - $600 labour, pigs arse..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dealer installed em along with the chrome switch housings etc.  They ran the existing wiring internally... but it frickin cost me a shitload in labour.

    outbak,

cant help with seating problem but to clean whitewalls try the following:

     1. ever heard of a product called Gumption.

     2. CT18 (not CT20 it has wax) diluted as a spray on, rinse off.

     3. water kero mix 1/2 cup kero to a bucket (9ltr) water and a brush.

Most tyre cleaners are crap, you have to use a high pressure cleaner or a stiff brush with em.

NOTE.dont get Gumption on paint work or chrome if you do, dont wipe it off, wash it off.

    hope this helps
