hello all, can any one tell me if they have tried a smaller front drive pulley, apparently american rods run two teeth smaller.vrods seem to take a bit to get them moving[from stand still].I have been told that for $600 you can get a pulley and belt ,and that s.e race tuner will allow for a speedo recalibration. any feed back will be most appreciated

If any one is intersted,i've had a28 tooth sprocket fitted,it was well worth it,it has alot more punch.I had to travel 200k to have it done, and fuel consumption didn't seem to suffer.

Is your speedo still accurate? Talking to my dealer they said that u need to install a race tuner (or something) to allow for the speedo to compensate for the gearing change.

Have screamin eagle race tuner installed, for some reason dealer coudn't adjust speedo,{dissapointing} but they said they would sus it out at my next service-something about H.D.Australia had just been down and updated their software which altered something.they assured me that it only made it go 5 km out,but i think it's more like some where around 8km.i'm sure they will fix it....at least it's reading over actual speed-speed camera safe!

If your only changing the gearing not the rolling diameter of the wheels and tyres why do you need to recalibrate the speedo?

just my 2c but i dont think it would be required, correct me if im wrong.

Howdy, can`t correct you jake because i dont know {yet], i guese it depends on where the speed sensor operates from.it does appear to be out though,-interesting. the bike is going up to Richardsons {Launceston} for 8oook   service and dyno-{made our own exhaust system, might send photo when i work out how]. also having bike looked at to check out gear clashing 1st to 2nd, bike uses abit of oil as well, any comments on these things welcomed

Hello all, speedo still not done, the bike only pulled 90 hp on dyno[apparently had a new "braking drum", or something, installed on dyno which simulates road conditions] and guess what, the wrong software issue again has supposedly given the wrong readout. "but we guess the hp is about 105-110hp".-brilliant huh ! anyway i had a mate follow me cilocking speedo ánd they seem to read the same speed.so you guys could be right. on a positive note the bike is going well and im happy with it. so how are every one else's bike's going, and how are you all going?

Gooday Mickrod, i had dealer fit the pulley and belt, all up the cost was $600. im guessing pulley was under $2oo. the bike has race tuner,k&n filter, and 2into 2 home made pipes.the exhaust gas test showed good results, though a tad rich above 7000rpm,if dyno was working properly tuning it a bit leaner here would of give it a boost apparently.Bike goes very well [and so is the back tyre].the H.D mechanic here commentted on good strong mid range power.i road a dealer demo with 2 into 2 bubs exhaust and normal gearing that absolutely fiew, very noisey though, and humming back through the pipes as vrods seem to do. cheers.

I tried the BUB 2 into 2's.  Love the look but boy were they loud. Also lost heaps of power as they have no back pressure - same dyno before and after, lost about 15 to 20 hp at the rear wheel

Went to a Staintune 2 into 1 - much better all round and also gained a bit of HP (about 5 HP).

howdy imoo6170, what sort is your bike, and what horse power are you getting? out of intersts sake,-i think my bike may have too much back pressure, that being that the original set up i had was the standard system [engine pipes and collector ,and mufflers replaced by 2 stainless extensions]had that large chamber that i suggest free's up exhaust. I am thinking v rods are  very fussy with  tuning, and with their exhaust. I expected mine to run lean with straight through pipes [with simple baffle-slightly smaller pipe with holes drilled in it] but no, slightly rich if anything.dealer thinks maybe it's too restrictive .Any how, i think we all know 2 into i is the go! hey what about CFR 2 into 1? and do your pipes come in black[ for night rod]

I have an 07 VRSCD. Last Dyno with the staintune produced about 119 hp from the 1130cc. Original dyno with outer cycle slip ons had about 114 hp.

Staintune don't seem to make the pipes any more and when they did they only came in chrome. It is unusual for a vrod to be running rich - they always seem to be a bit lean?

yeah, seem to hear that a lot ,1250's don't seem any better than 1130's,maybe the-90hp dyno result was the correct figures for mine! i still rekon it's all in the tuning, but more to the point, how good your tuner is[your mechanic knowing what he is doing]
