Toying with the idea of upgrading bikes. just after some thoughts on what mine is worth?

Matching numbers, 1971 superglide, 74ci, kick only, foot clutch / hand shift, S&S super B carb with rare S&S Superbowl accelerator pump, good cond, Vic reg etc. Comes with spare seat and rear foot pegs if carrying a pillion is your thing, all parts to convert back to hand clutch / foot shift, box of misc spares, handlebars, risers, exhausts etc. The only thing that may hold it back from a R.W.C. could be the jockey shift, would have to clarify. Has just been serviced, fork seals etc.

I'm surprised you would sell that too.
Maybe your just stroking the ego with this post?

    Anyhoo, it's fun, I'll bite...

No Rush: I reckon you could clear $10k - $12k without too much drama, but you'll be waiting a while as it needs the right buyer that's for sure.

Yes, Rush: I personally would give you $6,500 cash for this bike today.

Whats it worth? Well fucked if i know, can we say fuck on this forum?

If i can't get $12k for her I'll keep it.  Is that fair? is that what it's worth? I don't know, but that's what it would take to part from her.

Thanks for the compliments guys, i wasn't just fishing to boost my ego. I appreciate the input.

Why upgrade? No, not getting  grief from the missus, she's couldn't be more understanding. I guess it comes down to spare time. Lately it feels like one of those army jumbo things on t.v. the other night ie; one hour of use to sixteen hours of maintenance! I appreciate that all bikes require maintenance but most repairs consist of thirty eight years worth of stripped threads, rounded nuts, miss matched AF / metric / BSF nuts and bolts, backyard / side of road / macgyver repairs that have to be redone gets a bit much. I understand that's just old bikes. My issue is with a fourteen month old boy running around, another on the cards at some stage soon, house renos and trying to get a business off the ground, spare time is scarce so if i get half a day or a day free every two or three weeks i want to be clocking up miles not rooting around in the shed.  Preventative maintenance is the key to it all, but to what enth degree do you have to go over something to pick up on a faulty oil pressure gauge fitting or the horn bracket that broke, allowing the horn to rub (nearly through) on the oil cooler?

Yeah, newer bikes can still and will have issues but i figure less issues, less often. = more time riding

So short story long, I'll put $12k on it and see what happens. I i can't get that I'll keep her and go right over everything replace oil hoses, flush out tanks etc etc, speak to Shovel Yoda (A.K.A. The Don) and see what areas need special attention?

    To be continued.....................
