Had a nice little barrel around on Wednesday.
Met a couple of Sydney HOG chapter blokes at Trivett Alexandria around 9am. Headed out to Prospect where we picked up another 5 or 6 lads.
We cruised out to Katoomba for a coffeee or two. Then had a spirited run out to Oberon for lunch. Quick burger and then a good run out to Bathurst, those twisty country roads out to there were some of the best I've ridden, it was a hot wind and zero traffic, could'nt help thinking of scenes from Mad Max 1, of course after a while I could'nt help myself so I politely overtook the crew and got The Black Pearl up to a solid 140+ and kept her around that for about 40 klms. Absolute magic.
There was probably 7 of us on the run Bathurst to Lithgow and bright purple highway patrol SS threw a u-turn and sat on our tail for a good 20 minutes. I was running LED's, full face mask, and prob 20 klm's over speed limit at one point but he did'nt seem to interested. I had the feeling he ran our plates to see if we were "of interest" and then he just cruised past us pulled off before the prison up there.
Lithgow is a funny spot, as usual it makes it's own weather, we came up the hill into Lithgow and then got pelted for really big rain drops that on your arms and face were totally ice cold. As if it were on the verge of hail.
In typical Lithgow style this black clouds and ice rain lasted a total of about 900 metres!
Anyhow, people waived their goodbyes and one-fingered salutes as they peeled off along the M4 a nd ended up a couple of us rocketed back to Trivetts, I had to keep going on through the the airport on southern cross drive. Not the greatest place to pull up in face mask with a screaming HD right at the moment.
Top day though, more or less rode from 9am to 5 pm uninterrupted. That my friends is a good day in the office.
HOG Wrap: Don't mind those SYD chapter blokes, they think I'm a bit of loose cannon I'm sure but we've had some good runs now with a variety of them (and some NSW chapter) and they don't mind pushing the pace up a bit and always amicable types - good for a yarn and a laugh during the smoko' breaks.
That sounds tops brother. Any day in the saddle is a good day.
