Dynatek of some description, was on the bike when I got it, seems to work fine so haven’t questioned it!!

That's a good ignition, if has old mechanical throw out advance with the dyna electronic trigger. As can kick start. Some ignitions only fire every second stroke. So would be virtually impossible to kick start. Saw you have a kicker, you probably have about 1.6 primary ratio, so one kick = one & a half turns.
I once meet a girl riding a kick start only iron head four speed sporty, that had a stroker motor. I said I'm very impressed!! I was riding a kick start only stroker Shovel 98 inch. But that was easy compared to a stroker iron head!!

Ha ha, she’s all there, just in a lot of different boxes, I’ve stripped it completely for a bit of a revamp

Bought this for a project, I need something to tinker on and have done all I want to do with my Dyna for now. I aquired this bike quite cheap so prepared to do whatever I have to to get it to a level I'm happy with and happy to split the cases etc on this where I would be hesitant to do that with my Dyna unless it was absolutely necessary.
So yes, doing a bit with the engine. Once I pulled it down I found the timken main bearings are shot, I Thought I could hear a knock there somewhere so happy I've at least found this.  Also it has a 1200 kit with 1200 heads but bores and slugs quite badly scored...
All the alloy will get vapor blasted, Will likely be going with the hammer 1275 kit, I have some Andrews V2 cams to go in, will see Mr. Hood again to tidy up the heads, mild porting and whatever we decide to do once I have a chat with him. It has an issue with the gear selector, way too much axial play, so will have a good look at that, maybe get the upgraded clutch basket...
No intention at all to make this a high performance orientated build, I have something for that already. Just hopefully something that runs well and stands out a bit. There will be a lot of small mods here and there, just a fun little project .

This pic is how it was when I bought it...
