Some very cool sporties in here!
Plenty of inspiration and useful info. Some worrying too. Mine has over 45k km on her! Oh well I didn't expect a low km bike for little $.
This is the only pic of my ride so far. My first road specific bike (got some road trailies too) and first harley obviously. Had her for a couple of months.
2005 XLH 883. Not sure of all the upgrades (total noob when it comes to HD) but from what I can gather, it has pillion back rest/luggage rack, headlight nacelle and riser cover, highway bars and pegs and Kingchops pointed out the matching side covers, so I take it they're not standard? Italso has braided lines. Dunno if they came stock?
I have already gotten drag bars for her. Not real keen on the buckhorn bars (I think they're called that). Also have new grips and mirrors. I bought brass and black grips and pegs but don't think I'm going down that road. It's not easy settling on a theme! Like the black and brass look, semi steampunk, but think I like the classic look more. Might do a springer front end but from googling, it seems there aren't many options for 04-06 sporties. Paughco do some but are over $2k. Vpw do also and I think they're much cheaper iirc. Not sure what style pipes I want. Like a few styles as usual. Upswept or dumps probably the most.
Anyway, here's a before pic, how I bought her...

Hey Wobble,
That's a nice fuel can setup on you're sissy bar. It'd be nice to see a close up and get the details of what container you've used and mounting system.

Great info, thanks for posting. The Sporty can be a decent touring bike if setup well. An extra 2L of fuel is not too heavy and should give you 40 to 50 km's of extra range, great idea.
My first Harley was a 2007 Sporty 883 with the 3.3G tank. I recall looking into fuel containers just in case I ran out, I never found anything suitable at the time, but the one you've got looks perfect for the job.

Took couple of days off to extend the QLD long weekend. So today was 'wash the bike' day. "Polish till you can use it as a mirror" is the principle I like to follow.
