This is a bike i built the first time in about 85 ,it had a face lift in the early 90's, the photos posted was after the last face lift i did in around 2000 and was taken at Adelaide international raceway Virginia.

Now that is interesting Hoodeng. Tell us about it mate if ya don't mind. Are they XR 1000 Branch heads? They would be Dellortos yeah? Is it a complete XR 1000? Ive always loved them.Hottest Sporty ive ever seen . A mate had one years ago.Used to go like stink.
Like it a lot mate, dont see many like that. Defiantly put the Sport back into the Sporty with this one.
    Cheers and stay safe

Thanks Tricky for getting the pictures up , had me stuffed ,,,, . As for Rob's question ,  i got the bike in 84, it was built from one of the crate engines {number 625 } and bolted into an early frame, it only lasted me a couple of days as i wrecked it in front of my own house ,probably a blessing in disguise {except for the weeks in plaster etc } ,anyway in the first iteration of the bike i used a later frame, XLCR tank i modified for the twin carburettors,Burgan seat, Z1000 wheels and brakes and pretty much fabricated the rest  ,some time later i did the engine , i put in JE 10.5:1 pistons ,'E' cam set ,the heads are the original XR's with performance springs, close ratio trans ,the rest of the engine was gone through, balanced etc ,it was my main road bike for many years ,in the late 90's it got another freshen up ,new paint, KR 250 front end and wheels black anodised { can't get any wider in the swing arm } new exhaust with satin chrome and had a number of parts done in black chrome , new shocks, TMX38 Mikuni's etc . I used the bike again for a couple of years { i was building my 100" Sporty at this stage } then it was put in the National Motor Museum at Birdwood for the 100 years of Harley Davidson display ,a freind of mine now owns it .

The photos don't show how small the bike is ,its very light and compact and was terific in the hills but it was getting a bit impractical to keep using as a daily ride as my joints don't bend like they used to.

    Cheers.

Sorry all that was my first post and I couldn't add text in the post and the photo doubled.
Anyway it's good to be here!

Nice bike, what entails a "stage 4" on a sporty?

Pipes, intake, heads, cams and big bore? never heard of it.

Strange, i didn't get that sales pitch from my HD dealer, just set the bike up how I wanted and had it ready when he said it would.

Spose every dealer might be different,

Noticed Brash's bike is all over instagram uncredited, a heap of "lifestyle" brands seem to of taken a liking to it, especially the ride shots with 99co.
