Can anybody tell me what the regulations are on helmets from United States(Harley brand) that are approved under DOT and Snell but not AS/NZ 1698?    How hot are the cops on checking you out and what is the fine/points if they get you for it??

in QLD you get done for 'not wearing a helmet' which must mee, a helmet up to standards. i am pretty sure its 3 points and 250 odd bucks.

Frasers had HD helmets in December 08, I would have brought one but my head is not standard, it was to tight on my forehead, unfortunately it really limited my options. My nolan isn't bad but I want to hack a bit of the lining out for the longer trips.

I personally dont think a sticker and a label does fuck all in a illegal helmet, they stand out like dogs balls.

That dont mean they dont look good. But to someone in the know its obvious as fuck stickers, labels or not.

I'm with you Ductor. Back in 2004 I did a run to Tassy and just wore my standard wrap arounds with bandanna/face mask under my crappy 15 year old open face. It got to be such a pain in the arse (i.e. I couldn't see properly without my prescription glasses) that by the time I got to Geelong I had to trade it in for a Nolan open face with visor. Tossed the peak that comes with them and moved to a dark visor and it's all I wear now. The good part is being able to wear my prescription glassed under it, with no bugs in my ears and never have a problem in the rain. I hate full face helmets and this is the best alternative for me. Around town I just flip the visor up. It's a real bugger, this gettin' old crap....
