NSW Premier Nathan Rees has promised that new laws outlawing bikie gangs will stand up to High Court scrutiny

NSW is considering introducing South Australia-style anti-bikie laws, after a man was killed during a vicious brawl between Hells Angels and rival Comancheros gang members at Sydney Airport on Sunday.

The South Australian laws allow the government to declare bikie gangs to be prohibited criminal groups, and police to arrest their members for criminal association.

Mr Rees said the government would look closely at teething problems in South Australia, where bikie clubs have threatened a High Court challenge to the laws.

'I don't want to introduce laws that are subsequently thrown out by the High Court,' he told Fairfax Radio Network on Tuesday.

'Cool heads need to prevail and we'll make sure that the legislation we have here on the best available advice will stack up to any challenge.'

Mr Rees said he hoped to see a draft of the laws next week, and planned to introduce the legislation during this session of parliament.

'I've met with the attorney-general and the police minister yesterday (and) I've instructed officials to get that material ready as soon as possible,' he said.

'I'm hoping to see a draft next week.'

Mr Rees also announced that up to 20 hours of counselling would be offered to people who witnessed the airport brawl and killing.

    'It's a 24-hour a day, seven-day-a-week line,' Mr Rees told reporters.

'It will provide either phone counselling or where necessary face to face counselling with mental health professionals.'

Two more dead in Canberra tonight is only gunna add fuel to they're case. The media circus is reporting bikie involvement; however, this is totally unsubstantiated. If its proven that no there's bikie involvement I bet no apology is forthcoming.... Wankers!!!!
