a friend of ours told us the other day they were travelling around and got done by the police (i think for speeding). the cops made them stand beside the back of their harleys and took a photo of them with their licence plate numbers and bike all in the photo

In this instance did they have the right, by law to refuse.

just wondering cause if they tried to do this shit to me i would tel them where to go.

    charls

this happened to some stunt riders on a public road in Perth... said road has no trafic on weekend. They initially said no, but were told consequences if they did not abide... basically loss of bikes under hoon laws

A group of us had our number plates photographed on saturday while entering the Gympie tattoo show, guess it's all part of the goverments "big brother" intimidation and info collecting program being carried out on anyone who rides a harley, we in Qld may not have the S.A laws here yet but you can rest assured that it is coming..

If I chose to ride a Harley and wear HD on my jackets and vest etc, it is because I am proud of what I ride. I love the history behind HD, not because I want to be associated with “Outlaw Clubs” I struggle to understand how a make of bike can link to me wanting to commit crimes. Furthermore what is the point of taking photos of number plates, all they have to do is run a check with the RTA and other states data base to see who owns a Harley. Oh hang on, that’s right they would need a warrant to be executed on the authorities and a warrant needs to show links and connections to crimes or the possibility of crimes being committed through intelligence gathered.

There are a number of crim’s and criminal gangs where the resources of the police service could be used, but no it is easier for them to hassle a 45 year old overweight bloke who has busted his ankle 3 times and just wants to ride his bike with his misses and mates.

I have raised a good family, never hurt anyone and always paid my taxes, also, never been in front of a court in my life and I’d be damned if I am going to stand by and be vilified because I chose to ride a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

They will make it hard for you if you refuse (is your bike standard?) We've done a full circle, can anyone remember the harrassment we used to get in the 70's with our honda fours and kwaka nines!

for the cops to take a photograph of you they must actually get an appropriate warrant ... dont ask me how I know

without that warrant they can not take a photograph ...so you can "politely" refuse the offer

so what I would suggest is that you do a bit of digging, FOI, and u may find you have a good lawsuit against them <img src=" align="absMiddle" border="0" src="/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif" /> ..make the buggers pay

another case with a fella i know a fair whfhile ago, he was pulled up while riding along the local esplanade. (he has a HOG patch on the front top left of his vest) the first thing the cops asked was what patch club is he with, he said none and they pointed to his patch and said who is this then. he laugh (which they wount have liked) and explained it. they didnt have a clue who the HOG's were.
i think that was just after the introduction to the SA laws
