If the law allowed choice, would you still wear a helmet?

Should be able to take it off on the inland highways once you are 5 k's outa town and have to put it on at the 5 k marker before the next town.
I still take the bloody thing off whenever I can in the right area's. Nothing better than being out west with the wind in your hair.

I think it's probably been said before today but, FUCK HELMET LAWS... Just another brilliant bit of legislation and something else to waste me money on... Mind you, on reflection, those FREE Australia stickers wouldn't look right stuck to me scone...

    Or would they...???

Ya got fuck all chance of survival with one, would be utter madness to not wear one. Sure would be ok hair in wind (thats if ya have any I havent lol) but once ya know someone or seen pictures makes ya think twice. Mate lost his dad doing 5k riding around there tent, no helmet fell - temple rest is history. Family had to cart him home dead.

So my answer would be a big fat YES.

Yes, but it's great to take it off and feel the wind in your hair...even if it is a crew cut. The bike seems much louder too.

I wear a full face when touring and a shorty when cruising the streets.

Have seen what the outcome is to a face when an open face helmet is worn and a crash happens (mate) and remember what a poorly designed (cheap) full face helmet can do. (remember when Nolan fullface helmets came out. Removed your lower jaw  Not nice)

I think choice is a good thing but I don't begrudge the laws as they are.

Yeah I would wear one, but get a decent looking one from USA..........our stupid laws make us wear terrible looking helmets.

50 50 or phone a friend, I think I would ask the audience. There are times I take to scoot round the corner 2 C mates. Might B inclined to leave it sometimes and run with it at others. Either way don't want to bein the wrong spot to test the theory.

    Ride safe

I would not (if I had the choice) wear a helmet in town, but then again, maybe I would, depending on how I felt, I do like the wind/hair thing and have a half helmet for around town, I wear my 3/4 with a screen on the highway.

never wore one on the farm in 16 yrs, had a few falls & got the odd wattle stick in the ear, but was always careful, on the road, should be riders choice, but, with insurance premiums to match if ya choose not to ....

I would still wear a helmet most of the time but, when ya park the bike and then decide you need to go to the corner shop I would take my chances.

Didn't wear one till 93 when they canceled all Helmet exemptions in NSW. During that time I had one big stack, got a couple of scratches on my face from the missus landing on my head, and a broken hip which made me wait 4 months to get back on. She was a kick only Shovel. Still reckon I should have the choice. Blame having to wear one with the loss of my hair!!!!

Cured for all time ... Originally didn't have to wear helmets... ended up having to hold a fellows head together with the clear fluid from inside seeping over my hands while waiting for an ambulance... Dumb car driver ran a red. I don't like them, but will forever wear them.
