It has just been on the ABC's latline that the annual telco report on phone tapping has been released

with NSW topping the list, 93,000 phones tapped last year by NSW police

with VIC coming in second on 47,000

Those numbers are staggering.....is there that much crim activity or am I just being naive. By my calculation that is 1788 per week and 255 per day, 10.6 per hour, in NSW.

I saw that story on Lateline last night and I was very surprised and was trying to write down the figures from each state, but I spilled my glass of Port and gave up. But you can just imagine the wankers sitting there listening in on conversations........."hey listen to this one, he wants to screw his girlfriend at lunchtime" etc etc.

reckon half of those in nsw would be on the coppers themselves
