Hang on to the paperwork and note in a diary telephone calls, dates and responses, it appears that you have made every effort to act responsibly and the Court will observe this and act accordingly, the diary will be helpful. Anyway good luck you got yourself a freebee...

G'day Skull, not sure which state you are in. I just got my licence back after doing the 3 month ban.......2 points on the WideGlide and 10 in the car.

Here in WA there is a phone number you can ring, 1300-720-111, enter your licence number and it "auto-responds" and tells you your current points tally plus exactly the number of points and dates that they were "scored".

I'm sure the other states have the same system...... ours is under Dept of Planning and Infrastucture.

Maybe you could just call it once a week to see if your status changes. You might just have a hard time arguing the point if things go against you. Bear in mind that your insurance won't cover you if some asshole nicks your bike when you're away from home etc etc.....

Here's hoping they cock it up completely and just give you your 12 points back again!! Good luck mate!

PKM. yep, I have a clean slate..... dunno how long it will remain that way though! :)

Skull, I know how you feel but I strongly advise you don't ride or drive when you're banned. The only person who can lose is you. The major cities now have automatic cameras that can pick up the number plate of "illegally driven" vehicles (presumably cars).

It's just not worth risking your bike (or your future licence) just because you're pissed off. Some asshole is bound to run into you or something crappy will happen.

I have from time to time informed my insurance company of my speeding fines but there is no obvious requirement to inform them of licence suspension. After all, your sentence is the cash and the points. Also, your licence is "suspended" and NOT "cancelled". Cancellation is much more serious.

Mate, do the time and look forward to having zero points on your licence when you get it back. Otherwise it's the cops who will have the last laugh if you get busted again.

The best bit about being banned is you can drink shitloads of beer and not be allowed to drive home! I currently owe my other half at least a few months worth of "it's OK. I'll drive tonight" occasions. I had even started drinking during the day which I very rarely did before! :)

Ahhh license suspensions, 3 weeks into my 6 months now.
Good thing is I've got plenty of time for my homebrewing at the moment, now that I'm not riding all over the country...
That's not to say that I wouldn't rather be riding.
