As a tribute to the original Wildlife Warrior Steve Irwin, Sunshine Coast Harley has generously donated an awesome Harley Davidson motorcycle to Wildlife Warriors. The motorcycle will be auctioned online with all proceeds going towards making Steve's dream of building the world's largest Wildlife Hospital a reality.
The Harley Davidson Sportster 883 is a one-off, which features customised air-brushing by Mallet Custom Art who spent over 160 hours perfecting the design.
Sunshine Coast Harley Dealer Principal, John Faithfull said he loved the work that Steve did and hopes auctioning the bike would boost fundraising for Wildlife Warriors.
"We wanted to do what we could to keep his dreams alive and by donating the Harley was my way of helping and thanking Steve and his family," John said.
The motorcycle will go up for auction at www.australiazoo.com.au on January 11, with bidding closing in March, in line with the opening of the new Australian Wildlife Hospital.
Thought a few pics might help.
Current bid $26,000 AUD
With two whingey kids and a whingey wife it's never bland, but at least the whinging on here is the silent type
Anyway Dazza you better watch out you're being challenged in the Sportster slapping rights by your mate Uncle Ho up there. The way he's going he'll be the number 1 Sportster slapper soon if you don't watch out.
dumped in favour of Mega hey!!! is it the fact he rides a softy , or is it since he posted self portrates?
It's called "Thread drift" and it is an unavoidable and undeniable interweb phenomenon.
As for the bike, it is definately not something I'd buy - its a sporty, it's got animal murals and its a sporty.
Other than that I wish them luck.
Hey Uncle, I thaught that Mega was the trainer. Giving his wrestrel a hand ........ no pun intended
I don't hate sporty's - I just wouldn't buy one. But I wouldnt buy an electraglide or a heritage either, its just personal taste.
I rode just about every available type of bike before I bought my Super Glide and as soon as I rode this thing I knew I'd found my bike. I think the worst bike I rode for handling was a fat boy but I was a bit suss about whether it had been in a crash or something coz it wallowed through corners so badly I felt seasick. At the time I couldnt afford a new bike so my test rides were limited to second hand bikes which always means you've gotta be careful of what the bike has been through.
I've had blokes bag my bike which doesn't bother me one bit - it's my bike so I don't give a rats arse if they don't like it.
I think the original OCC tribute bikes were a novel idea that simply become a parody of comercialism at its best/worst. It has made the people involved very very wealthy though so good luck to them.
If ya gonna donate a bike might as well be a sporty LOW there the cheapest in the range...at present.
Hey KWD which sportsters do you have to split the cases on to remove the transmission? I know my 93 does not. Although its a bit old!
Hi KWD, That's incredible! Thanks for sorting me out. I am amazed that it was changed!
Ps sorry about the tangent on the Steve Irwin Tribute, I have huge admiration for him and his family.
