mate, that black and white shot of your Legend, is basic but a stunner. Obviously a kicker and button start, 88 cubes, with a normal rear shock arrangement. I wonder how many are in Australia? What a project to own her and keep her going. bugga lucky.

The Legend story is quite interesting, from the humble beginning of Anglo American to the final days of Legend in Malaysia ,and the main characters of Ed and Rob.

Have just found this thread, wanted one of these back in 95 but ended up buying a Heritage Nostalgia instead!
Over the last few years I have come across a couple of them and now own Two of them.
Just wondering if any one has any Merchandise or Legend specific parts they would part with.
Would be interesting to see how many of the claimed 52 built are still around.

Yeah still a few around mate, I've inherited my dads one, he passed away a few years back, he let it deteriorate for years but spent the coin and got it all rechromed and original paint redone. Unfortunately one of the badges on the tank fell off never to be found again. Tried to find another one to replace it for him but had no luck, any ideas as to where I could track one down? He got his from a lady who won it in a raffle in Newcastle around 97/98. She was gonna have it as her daily ride then realised she couldn't ride it so he picked it up for a song. Battery case and the seat tassels were the only genuine Harley parts on it, battery case cracked and the tassels ripped out, otherwise was a sound bike. He changed a bit on it, pipes etc and put a new motor in it but always liked it. Won't be going up for sale but does anyone know what they are worth? Need a price for estate settlement

This is an old thread I know, but does anyone know more about this Anglo American Motorcycles PTY LTD?
I’ve come across one that I’m thinking of buying.
It’s an 82 wideglide, shovel engine, electric and kick start.
Has a Harley Davidson vin number that does check out and a matching engine number. It has a rego plate and history, but the compliance plate says it’s Anglo American.

I remember them being in the mags back then but I've never seen one, if it's registerable and you are happy with the price go for it I'd say, from what little I know they were a decent enough bike, bit of history now.
They changed to Legend didn't they? Did you read this thread from the start?

Yeah, I did read the thread and the magazine articles first.
It’s quite interesting, just minimal info on the net about them.
Thanks for your response

Wasn't trying having a dig mate, what's in this thread is about as much as is about, all searches seem to lead back here, as you say, not a lot out there.

Dunno about legend mcs, but a 1982 FXWG should have a special little badge/plate on the front guard/fender to celebrate HD getting the business back from AMF.
Recently deceased mate had one he bought new in 82. It has been a great bike,

There were two ex railway guys involved with Legend, Rob Wright who was an apprentice school instructor in the tool room, and Trev Timlin who was the trick tig welder in the fab shop. South African,Ed Liebenberg headed up the place, he started out as Anglo American motorcycle imports prior to Legend with Rob.
The power units went through a couple of iterations, firstly with Delcron cases and a build up of brand name custom parts, to fully supplied S&S units. The guys were very aware of using brand name components as much as possible, even getting components fabricated to their specs when what was on offer was not up to the quality of what they envisioned.
Prior to it being bought out, Rob was in the process of fitting fuel injection to one they were testing, the plan was fitting it to all to follow. The results were beyond anything anyone was getting out of an S&S 88" power plant in its day.
