Ok, I'm getting around to putting the lyndal pads in the softy after buying them 6 months ago, but I am wondering if you generally need to drain any fluid out of the master cylinder before you push the pistons back ?? Also, what size bolts are holding the front caliper to the fork leg on an 06 softy and any other advice is appreciated if it makes the job easier or quicker for me.
Thanks guys, I'm drinking Mt Gay rum at the moment at the suggestion of Wideguy (sorry mate) so I'm having trouble comming to terms with doing anything too manly right away so the job might have to wait a bit longer. This is a pretty good drop though, I usually hate rum.
Hey Scotty
Any chance of penning a step by step instruction? I'm handy with a spanner but usually go the long way when on a seach and learn mission (haven't done it before on this bike)
I have the basics of brakes due to playing with cars for years but would luv the easy (right) way on the bike first up.
Wod ya reckon? Stuff like...
Remove wheel
Remove pads
Install new pads
Remove master cylinder lid
Drain some fluid
Push back pads (pistons) Careful not to overflow master cylinder
Replace master cylinder lid
Replace wheel
Pump brake until brakes have pressure
Hows that??
