3 weeks ago I bought my first Harley. It's a 2001 Dyna Superglide with 20,000 km on the clock. Today it developed a noise (a random 'slapping' sound) which seems to be coming from the Primary Chaincase.

I am unfamiliar with these bikes but I do have a manual. My first thought is the primary chain has become loose. Before I rush in - pulling things apart and spilling oil etc  - I would appreciate any thoughts, advice, and tips from anyone who can save me from doing something foolish or costly.

Yesterday I rang the shop where I bought my bike and ol' mate says "that job is covered by warranty". The bike had had a full service prior to being put out on the sales floor.
