This isn't meant to be a pissing contest. It is just the only dyno chart that is for a similar cubic inch to mine.
Hope the photo comes up as it shows a good comparison between the 2.
This is my 116 S&S with 625 cams, twin 42 HSR Mikuni carbs&,Daytona Twin-Tec ignition.
The boys at Startline Racing,Moss St Slacks Creek told me that only 2 bikes have ever been brought to them that they haven't had to touch.
Mine is the second one.
Still running stock headers & S/E slip ons so I can see bigger numbers happening once we build a new set of pipes for it.
Realistically though, numbers don't mean as much as the power delivery curve.
Yeah FYO its a 2001 Wide Glide.
I've actually wound the pumps on the carbs back further than recommended by Mikuni as it was dumping too much fuel in too early.
But pretty sure the settings they were talking about was for a single carby.
I'll probably bring the pump arm 1/2 mm closer now & see how that goes.
Not that I'll put it back on the dyno,I was only checking AFR to make sure I hadn't tuned it too lean.
Yeah it was a pain but worth it in the long run just to have something different.
Everytime I got the shits with it I would remind myself that 900 Ducatis ran with two 40 mm pumper dellortos & persevered.
Just got off the phone to my mate Pills (spleen vent) that built this motor for me.
He agrees that once I dial the pumpers in a bit better that torque line should raise up a bit more.
Probably around 130?
As we discussed, both lines start to drop just before 4000 rpm.so a little bit more at 3500 would suit well.
Hey FYO I reckon the reason most give up on the twin carb setup is the carby's bolted up to them are stock for single use.
I had to change needles, drop the pilots by 1/2 & 10% off the mains.
That was while also playing with the ignition 0-9 settings for initial timing & advance slope.
Just not cost effective unless you have a mate with a dyno or have a lot of tuning experience & a mate that understands what your saying & can throw a different slant on what your doing.
All in all though I'm pretty happy on the track I'm running.
I think the new breed of fuel injection & auto tuning ignition maps take the fun out of building something different these days.
aaaaaa finally found ya numbers on that donk issues lol
yup is a strong and good engine i built this one a whiles ago an first off run a over sized 42 mikuni on it shit loads of downlow an up high but could do with bit more playin around .i have the theory with carbs bigger aint nessacarilly better with the correct air flow an fuel ya can get big nubbers proved it on a mates 110 with a 42 .
issues bike run pretty good with the twin mikunis butttttt the rwhp would jump a fair bit an so would toque if he ran a single carb but the revs would go up to 4500rpm an gettin the tourque an hp is great as he dont need to flog it an rev it far to get the power ect them pipes are goin an im makin some newys in next few weeks eein he has left bike here for me to play some more
will call ya soon bloke
cheers
other number on the other bikes are interesting tryin to find some on the twin turbo fxr i done in 98 /99
