I've got one of these lifts like streetbob sold recently.

I ordered it with an air cylinder but have never bothered to used it, it is much more moveable with just the foot pump set up like in Streetbobs pic.

I've had my old softail and my mates streetbob on it in the past and it's pretty safe, the rear tyre just sits on the edge of the deck.

I use it heaps for my jap sport bikes and it's great with those on it, worth it's weight in bourbon, but the stand does know you've got Harley on it and does move around a bit but seems to still be safe.

I paid around $480 + freight I think, they are advertised in Just Bikes and whatnot.

If I was a serious mechanic doing a lot of work on harleys, I'd go for something more professional, but for a back yard butcher, this one is fine. I wouldn't have bought one if it was just for occasional use with the HD, it takes up too much room. But because I use it a lot on the other bikes languishing around Chez Rocket, it's well worth it.

    Thanks Rocket.
The lift looks good but it's too big for my single car garage. I just don't have the room.
I would like something similar to this:

I wonder if anyone brings j&s lifts to Oz?

That's an Oneil lift, does the job for me, can lift the bike about 350mm of the ground and turn it around in the shed, cost me $220

Be carefull with those chassis lifts and Streetbobs (probly all dynas).
Bobs Softail has two chassis rails that run straight down under the engine and trans from front to rear, whereas the 'bobs have a sump hanging down and a steel rail off the bottom of the chassis on the right side towards the rear to protect it, so it wont sit too well on one of those.
Stick your head under your bike and you'll see what I mean.

You could probly add some material to the lift rails to make it raise evenly though. A bit of timber the right size bolted on to it could be the go I reckon.

G'day Vlad, I have got one the same as pictured in Rocket's reply, use it all the time and it's great. Got it from http://www.hareandforbes.com.au  , products section, then metal working, then page 103. Paid about $450 but did see them in a mag recently for about $380.00 in Melb but the freight to Qld was over $200, Hare and Forbes have an outlet in most capital cities and don't forget to take a trailer or ute as tthe box it comes in is huge.

    Cheers, Glen.

You can build a low lift for Harleys for $25. It consists of wood, a pole, bolts and a pipe flange. You only really need a bike lift if your a pro. mechanic as it's easier & faster to do work on a bike with one.  Do u really wanna pay $300 for something u might use 4 times a year?

    Gday guys,

The Oneal lift I'm using is rated at about 500 kg and you can get them to suit different models and makes of bike. Got mine from Estuary motor cycle supplies in Raferty Rd Mandurah LIA.

I use my lift every time I put the bike in the shed, mainly to turn it around, it'll spin the bike in it's own axis, as you can see on my pic the shed is full of junk with little room, not like the bloody great big barn that Dazza has.

    Thanks Guys.
I like your lift Bobtail. Just have to figure out if it would fit my Dyna.
Also would anyone in Melbourne carry Oneal lifts?

    Gday Vladt,

I'd emagine that they are available all over the place, and yes they make them to suit dynas, there are some different makes as well in the same sort of format. Made in bloody China, what can I say

    Thanks PigironBob.
Bobtail, everything these days made in the bloody China, even the freaking matches.
That's why I am considering J&S lift from the States. Guys on hdforums.com rave about it.
Just the shipment is too expensive.

Dazza, I have shed envy. (someone start up a shed thread)

    Vladt,
For the amount you will use the lift, I reckon get a cheap chinese one, it'll do you for your lifetime and your kids as well with the amount of times it'll be used.
