Most of the guys I know with a GPS have had a mounting bracket installed on the handlebars and hard wired that in (as suggested earlier). Then they just plug in / remove the actual GPS. Admittly most have Dressers but a couple have Hertiages.

If it is kit number 91843-97, I have used one on my 08RKC and mounted it on the top of the right hand side cover. It plugs into the accessory plug next to the battery and is controled by the left hand toggle switch on the nacelle cover. I have been using it for heated clothing and gps on occasion and have no issue. I could not get a straight answer from the dealer and I could only think that if you have abs on your bike the module would get in the way of mounting the power supply on the left hand side?

    Hi Hooda.

I bought the kit (91843-97) and fitted it to my 07 RKC. Works fine. The instructions SAY it's not for the bike, but I only bought it to get the plug to fit the aux supply socket under the seat. I cut off the cig-lighter socket. I think the problem with it "not fitting" the classic may be that the side covers may be different??? Dunno. You're supposed to drill a hole thru one cover to fit the cig-lighter socket.

If you still want to use the lighter plug attached to the lead on your GPS, I think you could probably tape the socket inside one of the side covers with the GPS plug inserted, and then run the wires to the handlebar area. Alternatively, there's the pocket in front of the battery, between the frame tubes (just below your nuts) and just behind the rear cyl head that's vacant. Plenty of room for the socket and plug there.

One thing - if you're going to use the lighter socket/plug combo, I've found that they come apart with vibration. So, get a stout rubber band and loop it in a figure-8 over the connected plug and socket to hold them together.

    Gonzo.
