    Each AFL team has 22 players plus an emergency player. That alone costs a lot more money. Plus a lot more umpires on the ground/goals. That’s more money. I don’t know but I expect the extra players for AFL probably requires further support staff. Expenses increase exponentially off the number of people (or players). Everyone wants to bring spouses and family for starters. 

    Let’s not forget there are 18 clubs in the AFL v 16 in the NRL. 

    Only two AFL clubs in QLD and support for them is marginal at best. As opposed to three QLD NRL clubs where there is significant support, sponsors around that are local etc

    Maybe the AFL costs are more reasonable

    It goes without saying that AFL loses out more (less revenue) when they move location from sport loving cities where a shit crowd of 20,000 easily trumps the best crowd an NRL game can produce. Shit crowds are the norm for NRL no matter where the game played (Gf and state of origin as exceptions). There’s usually a correlation between crowds and merchandise 

    Club memberships also a much bigger deal in AFL with supporters less likely to pay and/or take out memberships in these times.

    Well the regular season is done and dusted...well done to Storm on the minor premiership. As predicted Titans are our only full time QLD based side to get into the top eight. Storm to get to the g/final and Storm to win back to back Premiership.
