Bloody BONDO... hard to draw the line at where to stop - thought I had finished with the two dents on the side and then thought; why not get rid of that ugly seam along the middle of the tank.  Also window shopping for Hydrographics patterns!.

    Thanks Tussuck.

I haven’t seen anyone else do it.
    That’s why I thought I’d share it.

I read up heaps about the HD development of the crankcase breathing system.
What’s critical is the amount of flow. Thus  the ‘04-up had a specific-sized hole in the breather bolts.

The benefit (for me) with my system is that it’s completely hidden and the cleaned air coming out of my special oil catch tray is drawn in through the air filter.

Hopefully I specc’d it right that the catch tray only needs emptying at my regular 4 or 5000 klm intervals. But I guess that depends on how hard I crank this thing now it’s a 1250..!

Hey HOG63 , I can't see your pic of the air cleaner & catch tray?

I don't think if everything ( piston seal & so on ) is in order, they don't spit much out, especially when you ride them a lot. but catch can always a good idea, as don't want to be dropping oil.
Just saw you went from 883 to 1250, what heads are you using?

Stock heads and valves and W cams are good enough with the Hammer kit.

Not intending to hit the Drag strip though...

    Good stuff!

Just recently started a top end rebuild on my evo softail. Bored out the barrels + .010" with 9.5 pistons, cleaned up the heads set the squish at .032" with an EV27 cam, new steel breather, new oil pump gear etc etc. Also doing primary upgrades, new bars and cables, 4 piston front brake upgrade.
Definitely keeping me busy, but I'm also in no rush at all.
    Here are some pics.

Thanks. According to Andrews website they suggest this cam  for 9.5 compression pistons.
I would have liked to run a different cam, but couldn't find one that doesn't loose bottom end power. I'm after midrange not top end HP.

    What do you suggest?

Give it a try... I have run an EV3 / EV35 for 20 years and its a nice cam - not too mild and not too hot.
EV46 and above scream, BUT they do so at the expense of bottom end.

    Hi there.
EV 13 is a good touring cam and I put Keith Black Evo pistons .010" in mine.
    Runs really sweet.
By the way painting the barrels and polishing the fins is about a 3 day job by hand.
Did you do any better or farm it out?
It does look nice when done properly though.
    Regards B.B.

Laced up this rim with stainless steel spokes today. The rim was an old chrome steel one that had seen better days but was still pretty straight. Painted it and the hub with Killrust epoxy paint from the spray can (my new favorite paint). Spokes were from Ashes Spoked Wheelz in QLD, good quality and did not have to wait too long for them to show up in the letterbox.

That looks pretty good Sinny. Wouldn't even bother with powdercoating if the paint holds up, which it should.

What's the ev35 like? Not many people run that cam but it's specs look good on paper. What compression did you have with it?
    Cheers
