So just watching Storm v Rabbits and at half time we had 3 head concussion tests a head split open and a ton of bone crushing tackles so really struggling to see how you refer to some AFL players as hard men. Is that someone who breaks the covid bubble and goes to a strip club?

There has been a death of sorts this season, its the death of integrity regarding these "crusher" tackles with teams now being coached when defending in their own half to play for a penalty by clutching your neck. Parra i am referring to you!

The death of the scrum is something else that the NRL have to fix.
They only have to look at union scrums to see they can actually be a contest.
The NRL ones were contests years ago. Don't know what happened but they are a joke now.

I would love to see Brisbane beaten by Port Power in the GF
Having said that Brisbane, when they are on, are unstoppable ( oops )
All the same would be so good for the lions and QLD seeing the GF is here.

I look at the scrum like that as well but a very good friend of mine who lives and breathes NRL said that it serves a purpose and he is happy for it to remain as is, now what that purpose may be I would have to ask him again as it went straight over my head as I nodded along.

The fact that its now no longer contested is the sticking point. You were not guaranteed to win the ball even with the feed and you had specialist hookers to contest for the ball when it went into the middle. On top of that your pack would push the opposition off the ball. Now the scrum loosely forms and stands there while the ball is blatantly fed at a angle into the second row.

AFL thread & it starts debating scrum's.
2020 has been a strange year for all sport I'd say!
Why don't they just hand the ball to the team that is going to win the scrum anyway? And speed things up?

Also on another note, this will be the first time AFL Grand Final, will not be played in front of a Huge Crowd in Melbourne. so that will have to make a difference! the weather would also have to have some effect too. ( or climate )
