So these last 6 weeks i have had several days of the panels generating in excess of 70kw of power. Today was 71.8kw and the highest i have recorded on the app has been 77.8kw. I think there will be a 80kw day this summer from the system.

That's some impressive output there PB, need to look at replacing ours I reckon. It's 10yrs old now and can't read the inverter display anymore.
Ours is only a baby at 2.2kw, compared to yours though.

Yes doc mine is a bigger unit. Both inverters are inside the garage so dont get direct sunlight on the display panels causing them to fade. The screenshot is from the app on my phone that interfaces between the two so dont actually need the displays anyway.

Hello All, in regards to the solar panels themselves,if you can source some spare panels while they are still available go get them!!
Long story short, looked like I needed to replace three panels (6 years old) soon found out that the panels are no longer available and the new ones will not fit in the same space, so to me the shit fight to add a new panel was just not worth it. I was lucky and stumbled across four working panels which has made life a lot easier.
Anyway just thought I would give you all a heads up,it may help someone down the track.

So quick update as to how much electricity has gone up....we have gone from having average $45 a month in credit in 2020 to $24 month in 2021 to $5.69 month in 2022.....same two people in the home same 13kw panels pumping out the same average out put...same feed in tarriff , reduced pool times on the pump, no air cond.

Well looks like my solar panels are ok,it's the micro inverters that have gone. I now need to replace seven of them and to top it off the NT gov is cutting the feed in tariff to 8c,wankers!!!
On the bright side I have four spare panels lol

True that. all most pointless spending the money to put the stuff on the roof.

You have me inspired now....  Bought a used setup the other day to see what its all about and to learn stuff.  All setup on the workbench charging the batteries away despite the horrid overcast weather in Melbourne atm.  Running as a 24 volt setup - I got 4 batteries with it so will hook up the other 2 this afternoon as well (just did 2 to begin with to see how it all worked out)

Its pretty damn cool to see the solar charging the batteries!  I will run my shed office from the setup once its all up and charged - maybe even the electric jug/microwave if I am lucky.

Well little surprise, the solar panels on the roof now are a total waste of money. The only people benefitting are the power companies that have now reduced the feed in tariff down from .12c to .5c....and then selling it back out .25c. I would strongly suggest to anyone considering getting solar to have a good long hard look at the numbers. They did stack up when we got the system but certainly don't now and we've been warned its going up by around 20% this yr.

We are lucky and still get about 60cents, but that runs out this year.  Next step will be about 15kw-20kw of LiFePo4 solar battery so we can pretty much go off grid.  We are not that far away from retirement and fucked if we will be able to afford the next generation of price hicks once we are on the pension etc.

We have been thinking about it for a while now, after reading up on all the pro's and con's have come to the conclusion that it's not viable for us, so will be looking at other options to save on our power use. The only reason we never got it done earlier was we have a weird roof design which meant we would have to get the roof modified.

Not in my experience. 2 years ago I invested in a 13.2kw system for about an $13k out lay.

Our per annum power bills have gone from 4k per year to about 1k per year.

So in theory, it will take 4-5 years to pay off max and there on in I am saving 3 grand per year therein with the system.

However by the end of 2024 we are going with a Solaredge battery and will be off the grid, no power bills at all.

In hindsight I would have liked to have gone with a slightly bigger system, 15kw or 18kw, but 13.2kw seems to be close to the mark.
