    Hi All,
Went for a ride down to Bicheno last month and just finished processing and uploading the Video which took forever on my old computer.

I had the Gopro 8 on the front of the bike and on the rear I mounted a Gopro 4 on the rack with a dirt cheap external Microphone to capture the sound, so no music on this video.

Mainly excerpts of the ride except for the Elephants Pass which was sped up x2.

    Cheers

Nice work Hidiho. Cool having vision front and back, It looked good when the Triumph came up behind ya and overtook.
All ya need now is the drone camera from above as you go along $$$.
Might have been ok to have had all the vision at 2X like the pass?.
Heard the fish and chips is good at the gulch, yet to try it.

Good work there with thd vid.
Being overtaken is usually situation normal when we are riding the illustrious HD brand.

    Thanks FC,

Would love to buy a drone but alas the cost of the drone and a new phone and no money makes this a tad difficult.

Also thanks with regards to the comment with the vision being a 2x speed, taken on board..

I would definitely recommend "The Gulch" as I had the gummy shark (flake) and it was full of flavor and was the best I have ever tasted for fish and chips, just be prepared for a long wait for your meal as mine took 45 minutes from the time I ordered but well worth it..

    Cheers

Thanks Wideglider, Ironically that was the only time I was overtaken, had clear travels the whole trip and didn't even realize he was behind till he overtook, but all good, he waved as he went past so i don't think I peeved him off too much slowing down his ride :)

Gidday Hidiho .. Great footage .. apologies up front as i can tend to ramble at times .. and for All the bike riders who say you shouldn't be worrying about taking videos , just ride and enjoy , well all i can say to them is everyone to their own .. i`m not looking to be some You Tube Hero , just like the idea of a bit of a Video memory of some of the Rides we do .

Have recently put my toe in the water so to speak with the whole GoPro Thing .. currently have the Hero 4 Black with the Sena Gp10 audio adapter which allows you to overlay your voice onto the footage as you go with no wires .. i should also say that i run the Sena 20s headsets with the Harley W.I.M .. i think its called that .. which communicates with the Audio adapter .

Some teething issues at the moment as with the Adapter on the back of the 4 Black you cannot see the screen to see if any footage is actually being taken .. bought the Smart Remote so i could at least see if the counter was turning over but for whatever reason i cant get it to stay connected .. so working through those issues .. have done all the camera resets and wi-fi settings reset but still having issues .

Wanted to ask what mounts do you use and where have you got the front Camera mounted .. Love that footage where there is no bike or rider in the footage .. of course i could put camera on Helmet or chest mount which would take up some of the vibration but as i wear a open face cannot use a chin mount and as mentioned i prefer footage like yours where there is nothing else in the finished footage .. have my Hero 4 on the handlebars and the vibration is awfull .. 2017 Road Glide Special with 9 inch Harley Chiseled bars .. i realize there is No Stabilization on the Hero 4 which has me thinking of going for the Hero 7 Black , but when i see how stable your rear camera was it made me think i need to stick with a little longer before changing up .

Also what settings did you use on both cameras as in .. Wide view .. or Linier { sort of normal view } .. or something else .

Thanks for reading .. interested in yours or others for that matter reply .. Cheers , Tim .

    Hi Tim,

The mounts I use are the Jaws Flex Clamp which is mounted on my T-bars in the center and the mount on the rear was a Roll Cage Mount which I mounted on the Softail Bobtail Fender Rack, I didn't think the Roll cage mount would work but luck had it I was able to sandwich the 2 parts of the mount onto the rack and it didn't budge..

Both Cameras were recording at 4K, 24 FPS in Linear.

The first Video I uploaded a few months back I manged to record with out the headlight in view but I goofed with this video and the headlight was in the shot the whole time, to overcome this I cropped the video so that no headlight was visible.

The Hero 8 has Video stabilization but as you know the Hero 4 doesn't have stabilization but some software has video stabilization which may work in post production (haven't tried myself)

I had a look at your bike and and I think the Jaw flex clamp with the serpentine arm might solve part of your problem with getting over your fairing, it's a chinese knock off from the Gopro Version and clamps on pretty strong, but as you know with the vibrations and movement of the forks wont stop the camera from vibrating but I could be wrong, could also use just the jaws mounted high on the bars with an adapter to change the angle of the camera so it's more upright and looking straight ahead as another option.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/144005534584 link to the serpentine arm and Jaws clamp

If you upgrade I would go for the Hero 7 over the 8 or 9 as they both suffer badly with wind noise and apparently the Hero 9 is the buggiest version around compared to older versions.

    Cheers

Thanks Hidiho .. not sure if is fate or not but just won a bid on Ebay for a Hardly used Hero 7 Black a couple of days back .. now just waiting for it to turn up and Hopefully be in good working order and will continue the whole GoPro Video ride memories .

I actually have the Serpentine arm and Jaws clamp .. first time i used it was way loose , the arm that is and was moving all over the place .. investigated when returned home and the screw up the middle was pretty loose .. have tightened now so will try again .. and if all goes well with the 7 Black and decent Stabilization i might be onto a winner .

Appreciate the feedback .. Cheers .

No problem TJU, and congrats for getting a Hero 7.

My Serpentine arm is tight so I have no issue there, I'm planning to use the arm next time I go out on the bike for some different angles for shooting and see how it goes.

I've been watching a Youtube channel where this rider is only using the Gopro 4 and even though it's an old camera it still has it's uses as the footage isn't too bad considering it's age.

Wish you well in documenting your rides.

    Cheers

    Thanks Krash,

    No pancakes I'm afraid...

Yeah, the MT Elephant Pancakes is "famous" around these parts and has had quite a few visitors over the years, But.... the business closed it's doors on the 31/12/2020 for the last time. Its been on the market since mid last year and is still listed on the internet, so no takers at this stage.

Sure is Krash, not sure of the reason for closing the doors but I guess Covid and lack of tourism in the area might have sealed the decision to shut up shop.

I was out riding this morning, and I just went riding again, nice vid.
I went to a top little bike museum at Bicheno.
Just past the shops on the highway, the same direction as you were travelling.

    Thanks Neale,
I'm struggling these days with time, weather, injuries but try to squeeze in a ride when I can..

I've been to the Museum at Bicheno a while back and was good to fill in a hour or so.

I'll answer Soapbox's question as to it's current status..

    Cheers

    Hi Soapbox,

Yes, the museum is permanently closed, I was told last year that it closed down and when I rode past last month there's no advertising at all on the building.

Appears to be another business closure due to Covid

    Cheers
