I’d ban French cars here too if I had the chance.

Good luck with that I say - the French know how to protest when they realise they can’t have their bagel and eat it too.

LOL don't mind a renault megane RS but otherwise they produce some tragic cars. And its ALL cars not just French ones being banned

    It’s all fairyland stuff PB.
The tech doesn’t exist now to do that - batteries at a usable price point with power and a grid capable enough of adapting to it? Ppl that say that are just making it up. A whole country with ICE to get to work, transport food and ppl, and what you can’t drive across the French border unless you are in an EV?

    All BS.

Anyways, back to Holden. Sad where it’s ended up. I rather liked the last Commodore made here. Good value now but the company seems stuffed; what do they stand for?

Good luck to them I say PB. Remember the French protested last year about a small fuel price increase ‘to combat climate changes.
Europe has got the climate change bug like no other. They also have very good rail networks, nuclear power and shorter distances to travel. We haven’t got any of those.
Funny for all the screaming on climate change, the majority of the top 10 cars sold in Oz are utes and SUV’s! Caring lot aren’t we.

I don’t know what the answer is but suspect it’s a mix of existing tech, improved existing tech, EV, hydrogen and maybe some tech breakthroughs no one thought of yet. Until then, utes, a small car a HD and maybe an older Jap sports bike for me.

We need to look at geothermal and molten salt thorium reactors, very interesting reactor, not like the PWR types used currently, very safe, no radioactive waste, abundant fuel etc. Google it of you want more information.
All the clapped out solar panels are going to be a nightmare in 20 years time.

See Greenpeace has had its charity status downgraded in several countries due to sponsoring various groups for civil disobebeince and not their original charter.

I'm no real supporter of GP other than the anti whaling, whether others agree or not a government approved mission to blow up a ship in a foreign port and killing a man in the process while not at war does not sit well with me.

Ah nothing to see here, Holden were screwed even while they made cars here along with Ford. Both persisted in building cars we did not no longer want and we paid them for the privilege.

Its really quiet simple and it comes down to consumers and the service and vehicles they receive. Mazda only sold 299 6 cars last month compared to Camry 1242 in a segment that has shrunk again by 22.9 percent. Holden do rank in the top 20 at 12 with their Colorado but quiet frankly are on the nose when it comes to warranty and more importantly they are morally corrupt in regards customer service. They only increased their warranty as a result of others stealing sales and backing their products. Holden as a brand will disappear from Australia in my lifetime and the the dealer network will be slashed in 2020 to a bare sprinkling. A very clever insider said to me that Holdens 7yr warranty is a hoax as there wont be a dealer around in 2026 to honour it!
Lastly the imported commodore is not a bad car at all and as you pointed out is a rebadged Opel......well even that has been dropped in overseas markets due to low sales. Holden in Australia does not have the range, vision or talent to keep going.
